Darrell Houk passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 8th at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor William J. Shupe officiating.

Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Walker-Brown Funeral Home.

Darrell Duane Houk was born November 8, 1929 in Lawrence, KS to Harvey Phillip and Anna Marie (Humphrey) Houk. Darrell grew up on the family farm and he was a member of the FFA, 4H and the baseball team. After high school graduation, he attended K-State and played semi-pro baseball. He then transferred to the University of Kansas and played on the baseball team his junior and senior years before graduating in 1951. After graduation, Darrell served his country by volunteering for the Marine Corps. On October 30, 1954 he married Darlene DeMeritt in Lawrence, KS. Darrell began his career with Phillips Petroleum Co. in August of 1956 and continued in various locations and job titles until his retirement in 1988 from the Marketing department with over 32 years of dedicated service. Darrell was a long time member of Redeemer Lutheran Church where he was a treasurer, financial secretary, elder, usher and enjoyed volunteering. He loved playing golf, traveling and spending time with his family.

Darrell is survived by his wife Darlene Houk of the home. Three daughters: Darci Anne Shelton and husband Craig of Chouteau, Marta Jo Houk of Bartlesville and Roma Gail Waidner and husband John of Denison, TX. Darrell was blessed with two grandchildren; Jeremy and Jason Shelton and six great grandchildren.
