William Robertson Hearon Jr (Bill), 87, fulfilled his life mission and completed his earthly journey before being called home by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 6:24 P.M., Thursday, April 5, 2018. He fought a good fight, finished his course, and kept the faith. Well done!

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, April 13, 2018, at the Bartlesville Southern Baptist Church with Pastor Kent Shirley officiating.

Interment will be the Memorial Park Cemetery directed by Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.

A memorial has been established with the Bartlesville Southern Baptist Church Building Fund, 5111 Nowata Road, Bartlesville, Oklahoma 74006 for those who wish to donate in Bill’s memory.

William R Hearon Jr, the son of William Robertson Hearon Sr and Lula Bell Rawlinson Hearon, was born on November 13, 1930 in Mobile, Alabama. His father and family moved to Birmingham, Alabama where he worked as a processing manager at the Barbers Ice Cream Manufacturing Processing Facility where Bill Jr (known as Billy to his family) attended and graduated from West End High School in 1948. Billy surrendered his life to the Lord Jesus at an early age and gave him priority throughout his life. He attended and graduated from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama in 1955 with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (with High Honors). Billy earned his degree through the work study program paying his own way through college, War Eagle! He relocated to Bartlesville OK upon graduation to work for Phillips Petroleum Corporation as a Professional Engineer specializing in Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning. In 1958, he married Donna June Sullivan of Barnsdall, OK and they established a home in Bartlesville. God blessed Bill and June’s marriage with three sons, Mark, Wayne and Scott. Bill worked for Phillips Petroleum Corporation for 37 years until retiring in 1995. Bill was a member of various professional engineering associations including a lifetime member of ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers and was a licensed Professional Engineer (PE). The Hearons were members of Highland Park Baptist, First Baptist and charter members of Bartlesville Southern Baptist Church (BSBC) during their years in Bartlesville. Bill served many hours as an engineering consultant on various building and maintenance projects at all of these churches. He attended Falls Creek Church camp as a sponsor and taught Sunday School while at BSBC. Bill helped teach his boys to ride and work on their own bikes, work on cars and lawn mowers, mow yards, play baseball and tennis, go camping and fishing and was involved in Boy Scouts of America. As Dad and Grandpa, Bill attended hundreds of school and church sporting events to watch his boys and grandchildren play their various sports over many years. He was very generous and a disciplined man of God. He paid for his boys’ college educations, contributed annually to each grandchild’s education fund and gave unconditionally of his time when his help was needed by his family. He enjoyed helping with house/church maintenance, yardwork, repairing air conditioners, heaters, water heaters, cars, plumbing, etc. for his boys and church family. Bill enjoyed family vacations to historical sites throughout the USA and traveling to visit his parents and brothers in Alabama and Tennessee and his sons and grandchildren in Tulsa, OK, Auburn, AL and Westminster, CO. Also, Bill traveled for Phillips to refinery and product storage facilities, regional offices to conduct engineering work and attended training conferences in Norway, the North Sea, England, Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Kansas, New Mexico, Colorado and New York.
 

Bill is survived by his three sons, Mark Sullivan Hearon and his wife Barbara of Westminster, CO, Wayne Rawlinson Hearon and his wife Tracy Lynn of Tulsa and Scott Robertson Hearon and his wife Tracy Marie of Tulsa, two brothers Jimmy Hearon of Bessemer, AL and Harry Hearon of Eads, TN and nine grandchildren, Alyssa and Matthew of Westminster, CO, Lindsey of Memphis, TN and Andrew of New York City, Sarah and her husband Addison Cruz of Tulsa, Elizabeth of Nashville, TN, and Brooke, Mary and Faith of Tulsa. Also, he is survived by four nieces, two nephews, several cousins and work/church friends including a special friend, Barbara Melton of Bartlesville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, mother and father.
