(permission granted)

Stanley (Stan) Douglas Hanes, 53, mechanical engineer, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2017.

Stan was born on February 16, 1964 in Bartlesville to parents Lewis and Margie (Corpolongo) Hanes. He attended Bartlesville Schools, and was a member of the 1982 graduating class of Sooner High School, where he was an all-star athlete, competing in football, wrestling, and baseball. Following high school, he went on to Oklahoma State University, where he earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked for Phillips Petroleum Co., FTS, and SGS. Stan always enjoyed the outdoors, and was outside whenever possible. His meticulously maintained yard was his pride and joy. Stan loved Grand Lake, and spending time there was a large part of his life. He loved boating, and was a member of the Cherokee Yacht Club, and was Captain of the War Party Crew. Stan enjoyed golfing at Adams Golf Course in Bartlesville, which combined with his love of nature and the outdoors with his athletic competitiveness.
Stan had a big heart, and he loved his family, his lake family, and his golf family. He thrived on helping and taking care of people. You could always count on Stan to lend a helping hand with anything, and you knew he would be ready, willing, and prepared with whatever tool and know-how necessary to get the job done. He was unselfish with his time and his talent, and he never said no to helping someone out. Stan was trusted and respected by everyone that knew him, and he will be tremendously missed by his friends and family.

Stan is survived by his brothers Charles Fred Hanes of San Jose, California and Larry Lewis Hanes of Geneva, Illinois; sister Linda Margaret (Hanes) Zizzo and husband Paul of Edmond, Oklahoma; girlfriend Karrie Burks of Bartlesville; best friend Robert “Bubba” Chrisco and Laura Behan of Broken Arrow; niece Amy Elaine Bennington and husband Brigham of Geneva, Illinois; nephew Jason Lewis Hanes of Geneva, Illinois; first cousins John Michael Corpolongo and wife Melinda of Edmond, Oklahoma, Roger Buck and wife Alice of Sheboygan, Wisconsin and Allan Buck and wife Johnnie (Barbara) of Eudora, Kansas; second cousin John Matthew Corpolongo of Norman, Oklahoma and a host of other cousins and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his sister Elaine Frances Hanes, his parents, and sister-in-law Lorinda Maureen (Cluff) Hanes.

A memorial reception and celebration will be 2:30 pm, Friday, July 14 , 2017 at the Hilton Garden Inn of Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Bartlesville, OK. Arrangements by Stumpff Funeral Home, Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
