Mr. David Lewis Greene, 68, of Bartlesville, died at 2:21 A.M. Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at his home in Bartlesville following a short illness.
Memorial services for Mr. Greene will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, July 13, 2012 at the First Christian Church located at 6th & Osage with Rev. Mark Bright, Chaplain of Rivercross Hospice officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery where Masonic rites will be accorded by the Bartlesville Masonic Lodge and directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
Friends who wish may call for visitation at the Stumpff Funeral Home until 9 P.M. Thursday.
A memorial fund has been established and those who wish may send their contributions to the Bartlesville Community Foundation, ATTN: David Greene Memorial Fund, 501 S. Johnstone, Suite 540-A, Bartlesville, Oklahoma 74003. The memorial fund will be used to support the Discovery One Park (the Nellie Johnstone # 1 in Johnstone Park).
Mr. Greene was born in Arkansas City, Kansas on January 12, 1944 to John P. and Gladys Cora (Olney) Greene.
He grew up and received his education in Bartlesville and also attended several years at the Kemper Military Academy in Booneville, Missouri, until returning to Bartlesville to graduate from College High School in 1962. He attended Oklahoma State University at Stillwater where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics and a minor in Animal Husbandry. He was married to Claudean Pearl Starrett in Bartlesville on June 3, 1967. They made their home in Stillwater until his college graduation. Mr. Greene was then employed with Phillips Petroleum Company in the sales of agricultural chemicals and they made their homes in the Chicago, Illinois area, East Lansing, Michigan and South Bend, Indiana. Mr. and Mrs. Greene then moved to Tustin, California where he worked for Phillips in the Rubber Chemicals division. Following the death of Mr. Greene's father, they returned to Bartlesville in 1977 and Mr. Greene began operating the family independent oil production business which he has operated since that time. Mr. Greene was a member of the Oklahoma Independent Oil Producer's Association Wildcatters, a member of the Bartlesville Masonic Lodge # 284 AF & AM, the Scottish Rite and Akdar Temple. He was also active in community projects including the Nellie Johnstone Discovery One Park and the 940 Locomotive & Caboose project.
Mr. Greene is survived by his wife, Claudean Greene of the home, one daughter, Shelley Stewart and her husband Jay of Brookfield, Wisconsin, three grandchildren, Kacey Stewart, Nathan Stewart and Sarah Stewart, his sister, Mary Helen Moricoli and her husband John of Norman, Okla., a niece, Megan Haywood and her husband and children, and a number of cousins.
 
Mr. Greene was preceded in death by his parents and by his son, Charles B. Greene in 1984.
