Mr. Edward J. Funkhouser,93, retired accounting department
employee of the Phillips Petroleum Company, and resident of Bartlesville, died
at 6:30 A.M. on Monday November 27, 2017 in Bartlesville.
Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday December 1, 2017 at the
Memorial Park Cemetery in Bartlesville. Graveside services and Interment are
under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
Mr. Funkhouser was born October 8, 1924 at Afton, Oklahoma to Glenn G. and Emma
M. (Theilen) Funkhouser. He was raised and received his education in the Afton
area, later attending NEO College at Miami, Ok where he received a bachelors
degree. Following his college graduation, he entered the U.S. Navy in February
of 1943, serving for three years in the Navy, until his Honorable Discharge from
the U.S. Navy in March of 1946. He was married to Barbara Jean (James)
Funkhhouser at Miami, Oklahoma on March 1, 1952. They made their home at
Wichita, Kansas for a brief time before coming to Bartlesville in 1955 where he
began his employment with the Phillip Petroleum Company in the Accounting
department. He worked for Phillips until his retirement in the mid 1980’s.
Mr. Funkhouser is survived by his Daughter Phyllis Denslow of Bartlesville, a
grandson Paul Whitchurch of League City, Texas, and by a sister-in-law Nina
James of Welch, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Funkhouser in 2003, by a sister
Fayrene Funkhouser, and by a brother Harold Funkhouser.
