(permission granted)
Joanne Frances Estes, 74, of Bartlesville, died Sunday, August 19, 2018.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Bartlesville
First Baptist Church at 10:00 am.
Joanne Frances Burger was born at Barnes Hospital, St Louis, Missouri,
Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1943, to Mary Virginia LaRue Burger and
Joseph Frederick Burger. She attended Lindenwood College in St Charles,
Missouri. She and Bill Estes were married June 9, 1962 and began a 56
year marriage. She loved music and was one of the most creative women.
She excelled in anything she attempted. Joanne was employed as a
Marketing Representative with Phillips Petroleum electing to retire in
1988 to devote more time to her family, church, and bicycling. She
traveled throughout the country on various bicycle trips. Her favorite
was Oklahoma Freewheel which she rode every year since 1989 except for
when recovering from two hip replacements and partial shoulder
replacement. Joanne loved music and played violin in the church
orchestra.
Survivors include husband Bill Estes, children Martha Ward and husband
Walter Ward of Ramona, Sydney Hardham and husband Bill Hardham of The
Woodlands Texas, one son Peter Estes and wife Cindy Estes of
Bartlesville; nine grandchildren: Sara Estes, Genevieve Estes, Elizabeth
Sironi and husband Giancarlo Sironi, Forrest Estes, Kristyn Powell and
husband Sean Powell, Kelsey Besett and husband Cody Besett, Jared Ward,
Nathan Hardham and Grace Hardham. Two great grandchildren, Burke and
Braxton Powell, and three sisters; Mary Jean and husband Marty Gross,
Donna and husband Paul Gross, Carol and husband Erik Goldman and her
sister-in-law, Jane Bylander.
She was loved by all, and those who knew
her referred to her as “Sweet Joanne”. Her passing was unexpected, but
we are comforted that she accepted Jesus Christ at an early age, and we
have the assurance that we will see her again.
In lieu of flowers the
family requests donations be sent to The Family Life Center of The First
Baptist Church in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
