BARTLESVILLE EXAMINER-ENTERPRISE
BARTLESVILLE, WASHINGTON CO, OK
(permission granted)

Vivian Beatrice Dale, age 94, long-time Bartlesville resident, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, departed this world for Heaven on Tuesday, October 4th, 2016 at Clarehouse in Tulsa. Vivian was born December 8th, 1921, in Medford, Oklahoma, to the late Otice Lee and Ada (Schulze) Jewitt.

Vivian is survived by daughters, Denise Fuller and husband, Craig, of Circleville, Ohio, and Marsha Grindle and husband, Scott, of Tulsa; grandchildren, Anna Grindle Hartung and husband, Matt, of Tulsa and Allison Grindle of Dallas, Texas; and great-grandchild, Amy Hartung.
She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Phyllis Dotson and husband, Ray, of Tulsa and JoAnne Teegardin and husband, John, of Taos Canyon, New Mexico; brothers-in-law, Doyle Moore of Tucson, Arizona and Paul T. Bryant of Arden, North Carolina; and many loving nieces, nephews and relatives.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn H. Dale; daughter, Laura Dale Plaster; and four sisters, Ruth Burgin, Laverna Belle Cole, Lois Fern McCabe and Vera Mae Moore.

Vivian graduated from Carney, Oklahoma High School in 1939, and moved to Bartlesville where she attended and graduated from Bartlesville Junior College while living with her aunt and uncle. After graduation, Vivian went to work at Phillips Petroleum Company as an administrative assistant. She took a room at a local boarding house that also served meals to local young men. One of those young men was Glenn H. Dale, a Phillips Petroleum chemical engineer from Oklahoma City. Both Vivian and Glenn rode the train to go visit their respective parents. Between the meals and the long train rides together, Vivian and Glenn fell in love and married in August 1947. That life journey continued for 66 years, until Glenn's death in May of 2014.
Vivian and Glenn were blessed with three daughters. Their community life centered around East Cross United Methodist Church where Vivian served for years in the Keenagers Ministry to Senior Citizens and as wedding reception coordinator. She also served in the Iris Garden Club following her creative passion for flower arranging. She was greatly appreciated for her hospitality, particularly her holiday cooking and baking. Vivian and Glenn were also very active in the formation and ongoing support of the Samaritan Counseling Center in Bartlesville.
In retirement, Glenn and Vivian enjoyed traveling. They attended over 25 Elder Hostels. International travel included trips to Africa, Australia, China, Turkey and Western Europe. During those travels Vivian refined her photography skills. Once no longer able to travel, one of her greatest joys was hearing about trips friends and relatives had taken.
Vivian and Glenn moved into Tall Grass Estates in 2011. Vivian very much enjoyed her friends at Tall Grass and was particularly thankful for the love and support she received when Glenn passed in May 2014. Last December, having been a resident of Bartlesville for 75 years, Vivian moved to Aberdeen Heights Assisted Living in Tulsa to be near daughter and caregiver, Marsha Grindle.
The most common description of Vivian was "she is such a sweet lady". She was determined to be as independent as possible. Yet as life became increasingly difficult, Vivian maintained her sweet spirit. She will be missed.

Visitation for Vivian will be held on Thursday and Friday from 9:00 AM-8:00 PM in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home, 710 S. Dewey Ave. Family will be present to greet friends in the funeral home on Friday from 5-7:00 PM.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home chapel with East Cross United Methodist Church Pastor Jeff Burress officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Clarehouse, 7617 S. Mingo Rd., Tulsa, OK 74133.
