Addie Darlene Codding, beloved mother, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 2, 2016, at the age of 90. She will forever be sorely missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.

She was born on January 31, 1926 in Parsons KS, and her parents were Sylvester G. Yund of Grand Island NE and Violet Grace (Erixson) Yund of Wahoo NE. Darlene grew up in Parsons KS, where she attended all 12 grades of school, graduating from Parsons High School in 1944. She attended Bethany-Peniel College, now Southern Nazarene University, in Bethany OK. She married Bernard Leon Codding on June 1, 1947, in Parsons KS. She moved that year to Bartlesville OK, where her husband Bernard Codding was employed by Phillips Petroleum Company.

Darlene was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene during all of her years in Bartlesville, She was active in her church as long as her health permitted, and she sang in the Encore Choir. She was the first secretary to Rev. Tommy Burton when it was the First Nazarene Church. From 1951 to 1954 she worked as a clerk at Cities Service in Ad Valorum Tax. She was the Manager of the Wayside School Cafeteria from the 1960s up to 1976. She volunteered for several years in the Jane Phillips Hospital Auxiliary, and delivered Meals on Wheels.

Darlene loved her home and garden, and was happiest when working in her flowerbeds. She loved to cook, a passion that she inherited from her mother and grandmother, loved watching birds, loved life, and enjoyed living.

Darlene was preceded in death by her two brothers, George W. Yund and Sylvester A. Yund, her parents S. G. Yund and Grace Yund, and her husband Bernard Codding.

She is survived by her son Mitchell A. Codding and his wife Amparo of Morris Plains NJ.

Private graveside services will be held on Wednesday October 5, 2016, in Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Darlene's name to the First Church of the Nazarene, 3650 SE Adams Boulevard, Bartlesville OK 74006; or to the American Cancer Society , PO Box 22478, Oklahoma City OK 73123.
