Daniel Michael Calnan Jr., Our beloved Father and Grandpa Slick, 83, died Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at St. Johns Hospital in Tulsa, Ok.

Daniel Michael Calnan Jr. was born in Bartlesville, Ok, November 13, 1927, the son of Daniel Michael Calnan Sr. and Zelma (Hart) Calnan. He was raised and educated in Bartlesville attending St. John's Catholic School and College High School. After his first year at Oklahoma State University Dan enlisted in the United States Army and served for two years from 1946 to 1948. He returned home and finished his college education graduating from Oklahoma State University. Dan and his twin brother Don took over the family business, Dan's Men and Boy's Shop after their father's death and continued to operate the store until their retirement.
Dan was a life long member of the St. John Catholic Church and volunteered his time within the various church ministries including Home Bound and Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed watching his OSU Cowboys play football and time spent with his children and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.

Dan is survived by his loving wife Melinda Calnan of the family home, three children Mary Lu Layton and her husband Hunter of Round Rock, Tx, Daniel Calnan III and his girlfriend Ronnell of Tulsa, Ok and Kelly Falder and her husband Robin of Stillwater, Ok, one Brother Donald Michael Calnan of Tulsa, Ok, five grandchildren, Hunter, Connor and Ashley Layton of Round Rock, Tx, Emily and Cassie Falder of Stillwater, Ok and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his Parents.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the St. John Catholic School, 121 W. 8th St., Bartlesville, Ok 74003.

A Mass of the resurrection will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday in the sanctuary of St. John Catholic Church with The Reverend Festus Maliwa officiating. Rosary for Mr. Calnan will be said at 7:00 pm on Thursday in the Colonial Chapel of the Neekamp-Luginbuel Funeral Home with Deacon Joe Richard officiating.

Final committal rites will be accorded Mr. Calnan on the family plot of the Memorial Park Cemetery. Funeral services are under the direction of the Neekamp-Luginbuel Funeral Home.
