Margareta Casey, a woman of remarkable strength and a cherished member of the Bartlesville community, passed away peacefully at the age of 81. Her life was a journey that spanned continents, beginning in Hering, Germany, where she was born on January 3, 1945, to Frederich Schimpf and Katharina (Scharkopf) Massenkeil. On June 26, 1968, Margareta married the love of her life, Cecil Dan Casey. Together, they shared a life built on devotion and mutual respect that lasted until his passing. Margareta first came to the United States in 1970, spending several years traveling back and forth before officially making Bartlesville her permanent home in 1982. Over the decades, she embraced her life in the States with grace while always carrying the quiet resilience of her German heritage.
Margareta's life was defined by hard work, perseverance, faith, and sacrifice. Growing up in Germany during a time marked by hardship and uncertainty, she learned early on the value of endurance. As a young bride and mother married to a soldier, she faced many challenges, eventually leaving all that was familiar to build a new life in America through determination and an unwavering trust in God.
Life was not always easy, but she never turned away from responsibility. As a devoted military wife, she believed in duty, integrity, and honor, standing strong beside the man she loved in uniform with patience and grace. She was a proud American who made endless sacrifices so her family could have more, carrying those burdens without complaint. Raising five children required constant effort, and she gave herself fully to that calling.
Margareta also found joy in the simple, meaningful things in life. She loved to cook and bake for her family, and she enjoyed the quiet reflection found in reading, sewing, and spending time outdoors in nature. It was in these quiet moments where her gentleness showed most clearly. Through her love and guidance, she taught her family how to adapt and overcome. She proved that strength can be quiet, love can be practical, and faith can carry you through a lifetime.
Margareta was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Cecil Casey; her parents, Frederich Schimpf, Karl Massenkeil, and Katharina Massenkeil; and her siblings, Ursula Schimpf, Frederich Schimpf, Karl Schimpf, Luzia Schimpf, and Rita Huther. She is survived by her children: Michael & Debbie Casey, Sabine Casey, Sandra & Marvin Applegate, Katja & Jim Penhale, and Carmen & Barton Wilson; and her brother Peter Schimpf She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Brittany Price, Jacqueline Wilson, Chrystal Applegate, Jay Applegate, Julia Chung, Andrew Casey, and Adriana Penhale, Daniel Casey; and her great-grandchildren: Erick, Alex, Ivy, Ava, Zaiden, Hudson, Maddux, Dominic, Dorothy, and Oswin. The family wishes to share this final message:
"Mom, we thank you for your strength, your sacrifices, and your love. May you rest in peace, and may we carry forward the lessons you taught us every day. We'll see you on the other side."
