Mrs. Ellen I. (Crisp) Burton, age 84 of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, died
Sunday morning, November 27, 2016, at the Heritage Villa Nursing Center,
Bartlesville.
Ellen Idear Crisp was born on November 6, 1932 in Tremont, Mississippi. She
was the daughter of Joe Crisp and Dora (Underwood) Crisp. At the age of four
years old, she was adopted by Ed Crisp and Dora Crisp. Ellen grew up in
Kansas where she attended Cedar Grade School in Elgin, from 1938-1942 and
she also attended school in Richmond, Indiana from 1942-1946. She graduated
high school from Peru, Kansas in 1951.
Ellen and Billie V. "Bill" Burton were united in marriage in Kansas. They
moved to the Bartlesville area in 1959 from South Dakota.
Ellen and Bill were members of Virginia Ave. Baptist Church in Bartlesville
for many years. She was employed with Vandevers and Montgomery Ward retail
stores and volunteered at Jane Phillips Medical Center gift shop. She
enjoyed painting pictures, was an avid reader and she was an immaculate
housekeeper. She was also an exceptional wife, mother, grandmother and
great-grandmother.
Survivors include her husband, Billie V. Burton; children, Lyle Burton and
his wife, Leila, of Bartlesville, and Cathy Louise Miller and her husband,
Richard, of Houston, Texas; brother, George Crisp of Derby, Kansas; sister,
Katie Adkins also of Derby; three grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Dennis, Kenneth,
Wilber and Roger Crisp; two sisters, Mary Crisp Miller and Jean Crisp
Burton; one granddaughter, Marissa Sprowls; and one great-granddaughter,
Asia Burton.
Come and go visitation for Mrs. Burton will be on Wednesday and Thursday
from 9:00 AM-8:00 PM in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home, 710 S.
Dewey Ave.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, December 2, at 2:00 PM, in
Memorial Park Cemetery, Bartlesville. Rev. Wallace Thames will be the
officiant.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral
