BARTLESVILLE EXAMINER-ENTERPRISE
BARTLESVILLE, WASHINGTON CO, OK
(permission granted)

Karol "Sue" Barnes, 79, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 27th, 2018, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She was surrounded by her devoted husband, son, and grandchildren.

She was born on November 7th, 1938, in Fort  Smith Arkansas, to her parents Truman and Helen Steele. She was raised in San Francisco, California, by her grandparents Emery and Libby Steele. Sue met, Vernon William Barnes, the love of her life and her husband of 61 years, at Mountain View Union High School in 1953. They had to share a seat in English class and have been sitting next to each other ever since. They were married August 24th, 1957 in Mountain View, California. For the last 49 years they have made their home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Sue was called Mom by her sons, Kevin William Barnes and Brian William Barnes, and called Nana by her grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Barnes, Ashley Nicole Humphrey, Nicholas Ryan (Barnes) Reinsager, and Lindsey Dawn Barnes, and her great-grandchildren Elizabeth Harrison, Zachary Humphrey, and Zoey Humphrey. Sue was called friend by many. She believed in and loved Jesus and was considered a fierce prayer warrior by her family and friends. She worked as a receptionist and assistant for Dr. Newman for several years until she retired to care for her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing golf, dancing with her husband, going camping, laughing with friends and family, taking care of her cats and dogs, and generally being ornery.

Special thanks to the second floor staff at Jane Phillips Medical Center. A cheerful heart is good medicine. Proverbs 17:22

A celebration of life for Sue will be held at Eastern Heights Baptist Church on Thursday, November 1st, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. followed by a graveside service at Memorial Park Cemetery in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Nana requested that attendees wear bright colors, and not black to her celebration. Arrangements are under the direction of Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory in Bartlesville.

Friends who wish may sign the online guestbook and leave condolences at www.stumpff.org.
