Alfredo Lionel Abeyta passed away on April 12, 2023. Alfredo was born to Guadalupe Trujillo and Salvador Parra Abeyta, Sr. in El Paso, Texas on February 5, 1934. He was educated in the El Paso Public School System prior to attending the A&M College of Texas (now Texas A&M University), where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets. After receiving his engineering degree in 1957 he was employed by Douglas Aircraft Company in Santa Monica, California. He joined the U.S. Navy in March 1959 and received his commission as Ensign. Following service aboard various ships of the U.S. Seventh Fleet, he was assigned to the Military Assistance Advisory Group, Saigon, as a Naval Advisor to the Vietnamese Navy, for which he was awarded the Armed Forces Expeditionary Forces Medal. Following his active service, Al continued his career in the Naval Reserve Program. He served in various capacities, and was promoted to the rank of Captain, USNR.

Alfredo began his civilian career in 1966 with Tidewater Oil Company/Phillips Petroleum Company and shortly thereafter met Clare Bick. They were married at The Presidio of San Francisco on January 22, 1966. Transfers to Seattle, WA, Anchorage, AK, Santa Barbara, CA, and Portland, OR followed. They were transferred to Bartlesville in 1974. At Phillips he was assigned to Corporate Engineering and Marketing Divisions. He retired from Phillips after 27 years. Al continued working on a consulting basis with Camco (Reda Pump Co.) and Phillips, on assignments in Mexico.

Alfredo was preceded in death by his wife, Clare Bick Abeyta, who passed away May 16, 2009, following 43 years of marriage. He is survived by his son, David Edward Abeyta, his wife, Dorothy Caldwell and grandson Owen Caldwell Abeyta, of Austin, TX and his daughter, Katharine Abeyta Uhrin and granddaughter Kennedy Clare Uhrin of Bartlesville. He dearly loved Kathy's stepchildren Emily Yu (husband Kevin Yu) and their children Hadley and Avery, Nathan Reed, his wife Jaime and their children Harper and Henry, and Jessalyn Howland and her son Casen.

Al is also survived by his companion of many years, Betty Dalrymple. He and Betty had many wonderful times together and when Alzheimer's dementia and other health issues began to take their toll, Betty helped him through, with loving, compassionate care.

The family requests that donations can be made to St. John Catholic School, 816, S. Keeler St. Bartlesville, OK 74003.

The Rosary will be held Monday, April 17, 6:30 pm in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Chapel. The family will be present to greet guests from 5:30-6:30 pm.

The Mass will be Tuesday April 18, 10:30 am at St. John Before The Latin Gate Catholic Church.
