Bernice Lavada Leaton, 75, of Bartlesville, died at 3:20 P.M. on Monday, June 22, 2015 in Bartlesville.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at the Dewey Cemetery with Pastor Mark Wright of the First Baptist Church in Dewey officiating. Interment will be in the Dewey Cemetery directed by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
Mrs. Leaton was born at Pawhuska, Oklahoma on December 28, 1939 the daughter of Thelma Okalah (Swan) and Willard Johnie Jarvis, She grew up in the Copan, Dewey and Bartlesville areas and graduated from College High School in 1958. She was married to Charles Mason in 1960 and they made their home in Bartlesville. She was later married to Stephen J. (Jim) Leaton Jr. on September 23, 1983and they also made their home in Bartlesville. She attended beauty college in Bartlesville and was active in her own beauty salon in Bartlesville until March of this year. In earlier years she had been active in bowling and she also made wreaths and flower arrangements. She also loved her grandchildren.
Survivors include one daughter, Brenda Kay Cook and husband Michael of Niangua, Missouri, one son, Willard Edward Mason and wife Tammy of Bartlesville, three sisters, Twillah Reimers and Linda Egan both of Hayward, California and Claudia Bullick of Tennessee, six grandchildren, Martha Cook, Kayla Cook, Charlotte Cook, Nolan Braman, Amber Mason and Jennifer Mason, and two great grandchildren, Kendra Lorenz and Lily Weaver. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Glenna May Cline and a granddaughter, Amanda Mason.
