Lonnie Lee Jones, 54, died Friday in his hometown of Bartlesville.
Lonnie was born the son of Loran Leo and Barbara Elouise (Eller) Jones on April 12, 1961, in Bartlesville. At a young age, Lonnie moved with his family to their current land outside the city limits. Lonnie attended Bartlesville schools, graduating from College High in 1979 (Col-Hi Wildcats, Forever!). He attended Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College (NEO) in Miami, before transferring to Oklahoma State University.
From Stillwater, Lonnie moved to Florida where he worked at the Howard Johnson Motor Resorts for seven years before moving back to Bartlesville in 1989. He worked at Phillips in sales for a short while before returning to Florida to start his 15-year career with American Airlines. His job in aircraft maintenance took him all over the U.S. including time in Reno, NV, Dallas and Tulsa, OK. He eventually retired as Parts Supervisor in 2009 due to health reasons and moved back to be with his family in Bartlesville.
Lonnie never married but loved his nieces and nephews deeply, making time to attend their T-ball and baseball games and track meets. He was a season ticket holder for OSU football (Go, Pokes!) and as a loyal Dallas Cowboy fan, he attended many of their games at the new stadium.
Lonnie is survived by his father L.L. Jones of Bartlesville; one brother Clif Jones and Shelly of Oologah, OK; two nephews Matthew Robinson and Michael Barnes, three nieces Shannon Barnes, Kara Lloyd, and Cliffa Marie Carver; and nine great nieces and great nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother Barbara, brother Ronald Lee Jones and sister Becky Sue Barnes.
Lonnie’s family will receive friends at the Davis Family Funeral Home, 918-534-3030, 113 S. Osage (Hwy. 75), Dewey, on Monday, August 24, from 6-8 p.m. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2015, at the Dewey Cemetery with Ray Harmon officiating.
Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home. Online condolences and remembrances may be shared with Lonnie’s family at www.DavisFamilyFuneralHome.com
