Margaret Lee (Lynch) Turner was called to her Eternal Home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 1, 2015, at Forrest Manor Home in Dewey. She was 89 years old.
Margaret was
born to James Arthur and Georgia Leona (Cooper) Lynch on September 15, 1926,
in Eminence, MO. When Margaret was about four years old, the family home
near Eminence burned to the ground, and the Lynch family relocated back to
Dewey where J. A. and Georgia had met at the Dewey Hotel dining room where
Georgia was employed as a waitress. Margaret was predeceased by her parents
and siblings, Arthur Allen Lynch of Byron, Georgia in late 2013, Lillian
Inez Reed in March 2014, and Helen Lucille Hess in July 2014. The information on this site is provided free for the purpose of researching your genealogy. Margaret attended Dewey schools. She later met Paul Turner, and they married
in Bartlesville on October 30, 1943. They had one son, John Allen Turner.
Margaret worked at Phillips Petroleum Company for 15 years and later worked
in the office of Peters Dry Goods Store in Dewey for several years. Margaret
was a very kind and compassionate friend and neighbor to those who needed
assistance, and she enjoyed baking and preparing food for those she loved.
She cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and kept in touch
with nieces, nephews, and other extended family. In Margaret’s words, “I
feel the most important thing in life is being a Christian and living a
sweet life for our God.” Both Paul and Margaret were long time members of
the Dewey First Baptist Church. They had just celebrated their 64th
Anniversary when Paul died in December 2007. Margaret could often be found
working in her yard, growing flowers and plum trees. She would give away
starts from the trees to others, as well as her homemade plum jelly. She was
a big OU football fan! Margaret loved her home in Dewey where she had
resided since 1945, and she was blessed to have been able to remain there
until just recently, due to the assistance of caregiver and friend, Carol
Rice. The family is thankful for Carol, as well as Comforting Hands Hospice
and Margaret’s caregivers at Forrest Manor.
Margaret is survived by her son, John Turner and wife, Kathy, of
Bartlesville; grandchildren Kristin and Dr. Brad Barber of Bartlesville and
Philip Turner of Oklahoma City; great-grandchildren Olivia Kate Barber and
Noah Barber of Bartlesville and Jude Turner of Oklahoma City. Margaret is
also survived by her sister-in-law, Ruth Adams of Bartlesville, nieces,
nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be on Wednesday 12-8pm and Thursday 9-8pm at the Davis
Family Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, December 4, 2015, at the
Dewey cemetery, with Pastor Mark Wright officiating. Services are under the
direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home. Online
condolences and remembrances may be shared with Margaret’s family at
www.DavisFamilyFuneralHome.com.
