Posted by Ann Weber
Robert Taggart, 84, of Houston, died Sunday in Houston. He’s come home
to Dewey where his surviving family live and his beloved wife Mickey was
laid to rest.
Robert - or Bob as he was known - was born the son of Wesley James and
Mattie Ellen (Gaskill) Taggart on June 3, 1934, at the family farm in
Wann, OK. Bob was raised in the area, attending and graduating from Wann
High School in 1952. Bob served in the U.S. Army during the Korean
Conflict, from 1953–1955. Once honorably discharged he furthered his
education receiving a Bachelor’s degree from Tulsa University and served
in the Army Reserve for several years. Bob met the love of his life
Mildred “Mickey” May Tims in Dewey and they were united in marriage.
Bob was an auditor by profession and worked for many companies including
Phillips, Montgomery Wards and many others. His work took him and Mickey
to live in many different states until they settled down in Houston. At
that time they started a bulk mail business and had many clients who
depended on their services and meticulous attention to detail to reach
their many customers. After 40 years of loving marriage Mickey preceded
him in death on September 1, 1995.
Bob always considered Dewey home and visited his family often. He loved
politics and always watched Fox News. When he wasn’t working he enjoyed
spending time with friends, having coffee and going out to eat.
Bob is survived by his sister Daisy Hodges of Dewey, sister in law
Margaret Taggart of Copan, four nieces and seven nephews who he was very
fond of.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers,
William H. Taggart, Floyd Taggart and John Taggart, and one sister
Hattie Palmer.
Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family
Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel.
