DAVIS FAMILY
FUNERAL HOME
DEWEY, WASHINGTON CO, OK
(permission granted)
Margaret Hazel Smith, 80, of Dewey, died Monday.
Margaret was born the daughter of Ethbert Howard and Ermyl Bartlett
(Scholl) Vaughan on October 18, 1939, in Wann, OK. She was raised in
Caney, KS, with her sister Mary and two brothers Richard and Robert, and
where she attended Caney High School until her graduation in 1957.
Margaret soon met her first husband and together they had two children
Linda and Vicki whom she loved very much.
Shortly after high school, Margaret went into the workforce and was
hired on at various jobs including Southwestern Bell Telephone, Cities
Service Oil Co., TRW Reda Pump Co., and Phillips Petroleum Co. At the
latter, she met fellow Phillips coworker Ken Baker in 1990 and they
enjoyed 30 wonderful years together.
In her down time and away from work, Margaret loved to garden in her
flower beds and refinish old furniture. She would find a passion for
garage and estate sales where she would collect figurines such as cats,
frogs, lighthouses and Goofy’s. If she wasn’t on the hunt for her
figurines, she was involved with her two children and their activities.
In their later years Margaret and Ken would travel across the country to
see beautiful landscapes and check out popular cities like New Orleans,
Galveston, TX, and Las Vegas. Margaret was a kind and loving soul who
will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Margaret is survived by her husband Ken Baker; two children Linda
Garretson and husband Bill, Vicki Artz and life partner Angie Adams; her
sister Mary Raczykowski; grandchildren Sarisa Munoz and husband Brandon,
and Trey Shaw; great grandchildren Satori Munoz and Dane Munoz.
She is
preceded in death by her parents and two brothers Robert and Richard
Vaughan.
