DAVIS FAMILY
FUNERAL HOME
DEWEY, WASHINGTON CO, OK
(permission granted)
Ernest Plasencia, 87, of Dewey, died Saturday in Bartlesville.
Ernest was born and raised in California, the son of Jesus and Eduarda (Rochin)
Plasencia on February 14, 1930, in Redlands. Ernest had a strong work
ethic and oftentimes had more than one job. While working in a cannery
he met the love of his life Grace Ann Nichols, a Bartlesville girl who
moved out to California to live with her aunt and was working in the
same cannery as Ernest. They were united in marriage on April 28, 1960,
in San Jose, CA. Ernest was thrifty and often rode his bike to work or
walked. Their four children were born in California. Ernest worked at
Paul Masson Winery for 15 years . The family moved to a farm in
Cherryvale, KS, that came with two cows, three calves and one
goodhearted dog. He found work at Greggs cabinet company for awhile,
then he worked at Cherryvale High school for a time. He later found work
at Charloma Fiberglass and worked there until retiring in 1990. A few
years later, in 1994, Ernest and Grace moved to Dewey to be close to
Grace’s family.
Ernest was a musician and songwriter who copyrighted one of his songs.
Two of his favorite songs he wrote were “Don’t Go” and “Nag Nag Nag”. He
loved singing, playing guitar, exercising and weightlifting. He liked to
garden and grow his own food. He enjoyed working around the house and
especially loved to decorate the outside of the house for Christmas.
Ernest preferred the simple life and often commented he was from the old
school.
Ernest is survived by his loving wife Grace of the home; four children,
Diana Spellman and Mark of Tulsa, Laura Daryani and Zeino of Phoenix,
AZ, Ernest L. Plasencia of Pittsburg, KS, and Tina Maxwell and Mike of
Independence, KS; four brothers, George, Richard, Philip and Amado;
seven grandchildren Mark, Misty, Arya, Cody, Jennifer, Jessica and
Julia; five great grandchildren, Chloe, Sophia, Emma, Evelyn and Atlas;
and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents,
two brothers Roland and Johnny, and one sister Julia Munoz.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 24 from 10-8 at the Davis
family Funeral Home, 918-534-3030, 113 S. Osage (Hwy. 75), Dewey.
