Shirley Joanne Owen, 82, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday morning, June 23, 2018 at Jane Phillips Medical Center.

Shirley was born June 26, 1935 at Caney, Kansas to Mack J. Chastain and Lillie Fern (Copeland) Chastain. She grew up in Caney and received her education in what is now the Caney Valley (Kansas) school system. Shirley married Troy Oneil Owen on August 10, 1955 at Caney and the couple moved to Bartlesville and have been residents ever since. Shirley worked for Charles H. Johnson, D.D.S. in Bartlesville and continued as Dental Office Manager, until her own retirement in September of 2000.
Shirley was a member of Word of Truth Fellowship and was especially proud of the fact that she raised two "pretty good kids". She enjoyed cooking for her family and was known for her excellent seamstress work.

Shirley's survivors include her husband, Troy Oneil Owen of the home; son, Richard O. "Rick" Owen and daughter, Linda G. Gilreath, both of Bartlesville; one sister, Judy Herard and her husband, Luke of Caney, Kansas; four grandchildren and their spouses, Aubrey & Michael Ballard of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Nicole & Derrin Jorgensen of Bartlesville, Amanda & Mark Lee of Hawaii and Jared & Bethany Gilreath of Yukon, Oklahoma and three great-grandchildren, Dominic, Carson and Elijah.

She is preceded in death by her parents and by a sister, Diana Wilson.

Visitation for Shirley Owen will be at Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home, Monday, June 25, until 8 p.m.; Tuesday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m., with family on hand to receive guests from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Word of Truth Fellowship with Pastor Jim Anderson, officiating.

Interment will follow in the Dewey City Cemetery, Dewey, Oklahoma, under the direction of Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home.
