Kirk John Morrison, 84, of Collinsville died Thursday, February 19, 2015.

Kirk was born the son of Jess William and Lizzie (Fitzgerald) Morrison on July 26, 1930, in Washington County, OK. He grew up in Nowata County, attending rural schools. Kirk moved to Bartlesville with his mother and worked at the Kress Five and Dime on Frank Phillips Blvd. before joining the U.S. Army and serving during the Korean Conflict 1949-1952. Returning from military service, Kirk was united in marriage with his sweetheart Oleta V. Goolsbey on March 30, 1952, in Bartlesville. He worked for Keener Oil Company as a roustabout before qualifying as an electrician. Kirk then started his 28 year career with Verdigris Valley Electric Coop, retiring as a lineman in 1995.

Kirk’s passion in life was his love of cows and horses, at one time running 200 head on his land near Ramona. He was involved in his church and his children’s youth activities. Later in life he enjoyed attending OU football games with his son and watching the team play on TV.

Kirk is survived by his wife Oleta V. (Goolsbey) Morrison; one son Johnny Wayne Morrison and Janet of Plano, TX; two daughters, Maryleta Ayers and Randy of Broken Arrow, OK, and Annabelle Morrison of Collinsville, OK; one sister Edna Lyons of Bartlesville; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one son Kevin Morrison, one sister Mary Morrison, and three brothers Harold, Jess and Tom Morrison.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at the Davis Family Funeral Home Chapel, 918-534-3030, 113 S. Osage (Hwy. 75), Dewey. Visitation will be Sunday 2-5 pm and Monday 9-8 pm. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home.
