BARTLESVILLE EXAMINER-ENTERPRISE
BARTLESVILLE, WASHINGTON CO, OK
(permission granted)

Charles Eldon "Charlie" Mason, age 75, passed away on Monday, October 24th, in Bartlesville, OK, surrounded by his family.

Charlie was born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma on May 14th to Cecil and Minnie (Burns) Mason, the oldest of three boys. He was raised in Copan and graduated as a Hornet in 1959, where he played football as tackle, as a part of his undefeated team his junior year.
Charlie was a hard worker with incredible work ethic. In his early years, he enjoyed baling hay, farming, being a pipe fitter at J&S Foundry, working as a part of the casting pull crew, all before he made the decision to become an electrician, hanging his own shingle in the 60's as C.I.R. Electric, which he had for nearly 40 years, before retiring as an electrical project manager from the campus of OSU.

Charlie is survived by the love of his life of 46 years, Gail (Bridges) Mason of the home, his daughter Brenda (Mason) Cook and husband Mike of Niangua, Missouri, his son Willie Mason and wife Tammy of Bartlesville, his daughter Andria (Mason) McCollough and husband Matt of Bartlesville, his daughter Lee Ann (Mason) Schreppel and husband Jim of Dewey. He was PaPa Charlie to his 11 grandchildren who adored him, including Martha, Kayla, Charlotte, AJ, Amber, Nick, Jennifer, Nolan, Mason, Grant, and Katelynn. As well as his 3 great grandchildren, Kendra, Lilly, and Abby.

Charlie loved being with church family and friends, traveling in his motorhome and visiting all states other than Alaska and Hawaii, doing woodworking and home improvement projects, and watching sports-mostly football. He was a very giving man, even in the end, when he provided 30 recipients with life saving bone marrow, burn victims and breast cancer survivors through the Life Share organ donation program.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his best friend Uncle Calvin, brothers and his granddaughter Amanda.

A celebration of an amazing life will be held on Friday, October 28th at 2:00pm at Bartlesville Southern Baptist Church with interment following at Dewey Cemetery under the direction of Stumpff Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 27th from 6:00-8:00pm at Stumpff Funeral Home. Pallbearers include Willie Mason, Mike Cook, Matt McCollough, Jim Schreppel, Nolan Cook, Mason McCollough, and Grant Schreppel.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Charlie to Bartlesville Southern Baptist Church Missions Fund, 5200 S.E. Suite A, Bartlesville, Okla., 74006.
