Robert "Bob" Wayne Marshall, 99, passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at his home in Dewey.

Bob was born April 23, 1924, in Colorado Springs, Colo., to Chester Garfield Marshall and Johanna Marie (Janssen) Marshall. His family moved to Erie, Kan., where Bob graduated from high school in 1942. He then joined the Merchant Marines and served during World War II.

Bob married the love of his life Betty Walker on December 25, 1948, and to this union four children were born, Steven Robert, Susan Marie, Scott Wayne, and Samuel Lee. They moved to Dewey in 1956, where he has lived ever since.

Bob was a carpenter for more than 50 years and received his 50-year pin for being a member of the Carpenter's Union, Local 1659, where he taught classes to help others learn the trade. Bob has many notable accomplishments in the Bartlesville area. His dedication and skill are seen in numerous structures, including supervising the construction of the doctor's building (Medical Park Center), the Eastland Shopping Center, and the Penn Shopping Center. In addition, he helped build the bridge to the pond at Jane Phillips Medical Center Geriatrics and helped relocate the Hulah Depot near the Kiddie Park. He also worked with many projects for the for the Bartlesville Sportsman Club, and construction of other various buildings for Phillips Petroleum in the downtown area. He owned his own business for about five years, RW Construction.

In his spare time, Bob enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and woodworking. He loved to cook for his family and hosted many Saturday barbecues, fish fries, and served an especially good smoked brisket, and homemade ice cream. Having Sunday silver dollar pancakes is a fond memory for his loved ones.

Bob was a happy fellow and his family will miss his sweet smile.

Bob is survived by his four children, Steven Marshall and wife Sandra, Susan Marshall, Scott Marshall and wife Teressa, and Samuel Marshall; grandchildren, Scott Marshall II, Stacy Wosel and husband Brandon, Sheila Howard, Sabrina Purkey and husband Allen, and Jacob Marshall; great-grandchildren, Alexander “Xander” Marshall Howard, Jared Allen Purkey, Lucas “Luke” Dale Purkey, Austin Jaxon “A.J.” Kayton Marshall, Kamren Lee Wosel, and Charles Robert Wosel; and many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty; his parents; four siblings, Ruth Gergesen, Richard Lee Marshall, Margaret Joan Queen and Joe Emry Marshall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans, 300 E. Angus Ave., Dewey, OK 74029.

Visitation will be held from 10-8 on Monday, October 9, 2023, at the Davis Family Funeral Home-Dewey Chapel, 918-534-3030, 113 S. Osage (Hwy, 75), Dewey.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at the Dewey Cemetery with Reverend Evelyn Revard officiating. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and Davis Family Funeral Home-Dewey Chapel. Online condolences and remembrances may be shared at www.DavisFamilyFuneralHome.com.
