DAVIS FAMILY FUNERAL HOME
DEWEY, WASHINGTON CO, OK
(permission granted)
Shirley Elaine Kelley, age 62, died around 7:40 am on Sunday morning
– Mother’s Day (May 8, 2016) to be with her family in heaven.
She was born on February 17, 1954 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Marvin “Rass”
Black and Helen Puckett-Richardson. She spent most of her youth traveling
the U.S. with her family due to oil field pipeline work. When she was a
teenager, Shirley’s family finally settled in Bartlesville (OK) where her
mother eventually married Jack Richardson. Afterwards, Shirley met the love
of her life; Danny Kelley, Sr., at a local park. They were united in
marriage on January 10, 1970. She worked at Reda Pump for several years
until becoming a full time mother and foster mom. Last month (April),
Shirley returned to Bartlesville to attend her late ex-husband’s funeral and
to live out her remaining days closer to her children and their families.
During her time in Oklahoma City (OK), Shirley and Stephanie along with her
friend Wilma volunteered at the Jesus House Homeless Shelter. Then in
Charleston (SC) she was very active in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit Church
by volunteering and working for their Bible School Program and Radio
Station. During the time at the church, Shirley became an ordained minister.
When not at the church, you would find Shirley at home playing her favorite
game, Yahtzee, and assorted card games with their friends and drinking
coffee. While in Meridian (MS) she adopted a poodle, Roxy, who became her
loyal companion for the last few years of her life.
Shirley is survived by her children Stephanie Kelley of Dewey; Danny Kelley
Jr. and his wife Donna of Bartlesville; and Karen Succi-Siebrecht and her
husband Scott of Las Vegas, NV. She is also survived by six grandchildren,
Ashley Kelley, Dustin Kelley, Taylor Kelley, Kendall Kelley, Dalin Siebrecht
and Teven Siebrecht; and one great-granddaughter Kenadie Harder; as well as
three sisters, Carlene Estell of Dustin, OK; Patricia Black of Texas; and
Betty Sterner of Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents,
ex-husband and brother Dale Clark.
Plus, she will be dearly missed by the numerous foster children that were
fortunate to find a safe haven at the home of Shirley and Danny Kelley.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, May 11th, at the Davis
Family Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 10th,
from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Condolences may be made online at
