Emmagene Louise (Muir) Hammer slipped peacefully into the Lord’s arms on the evening of Thursday, January 26, 2017.

Emmagene ( Emmy) was born on December 31, 1919 to Joseph W. Muir and Gay Bell (Birks) Muir in Haileyville, Oklahoma. She received her education in Webb City Schools. After graduation, she attended Ponca City Business College studying General Business. Emmagene worked at Douglas Aircraft Corporation as an inspector during WW II. On August 1, 1945, Emmagene married the love of her life Harry B. Hammer Jr. and they had two sons Brent and Loyd. They made their home in Dewey in 1950. She was a proud housewife and worked as a seamstress for many years. She won several 1st place ribbons for her entries in the Washington County Free Fair and was a member of the Tuxedo Home Demonstration Club. She served as President of the Mothers Club, as well as serving as Troop Leader of the Cub Scout troop her sons participated in. Emmagene volunteered over 2500 hours serving as a “Pink Lady” at Jane Phillips Hospital. she taught Sunday school classes for many years at the Dewey Church of Christ to which she was a member of. She was a dedicated Christian and served the Lord proudly. She loved being in the company of family and making holidays special. When her husband retired they began traveling, both on motorcycle and by car, almost covering every state as well as a few foreign countries. Camping was also a favorite of hers and spending the winters in Arizona.

Emmagene is survived by one son, H. Brent Hammer III, five grandchildren, Justin Scott Hammer, Natalie Gay Dillon both of Dewey, Lisa Marie Hammer, Mistie Lyn Hammer, and Brent James Hammer all of Issaquah, Washington, six great grandchildren, Aryn Elisabeth Hammer, Loren Matthew Dillon, Joe David Hammer, Blake Colton Dillon, Autumn Nicole Dillon, Jacob Allan Dillon, three great great grandchildren Paisley Mae Dillon, Liliana Mykal Dillon, and Grasyn Cash Dillon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Joe Muir, two sisters, Fern Pope and Ruby Mier, a half sister Florence Poole, her husband Harry Hammer one son, Loyd Hammer.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established and those who wish may send their contributions to Comforting Hands Hospice, 1366 S. E. Washington Blvd. Suite A, Bartlesville, OK 74006.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hammer will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at the Dewey Church of Christ with Mr. Robert Hamm officiating.

Interment will be in the Dewey Cemetery under the direction of Stumpff Funeral Home and Crematory.
