Virginia Helen Hollopeter
August 3, 1927 - December 26, 2022

Virginia Helen Hollopeter of Dewey, OK, died Monday in Catoosa. She was blessed by God with 95 years of loving family and friends wherever she went.

Virginia was born the daughter of George and Buelah (Anderson) Robinson on August 3, 1927, in Copan, OK. She fondly remembered riding in a wagon to school and eventually rode her bike but that ended after a broken arm. When she was just 8 years old, Virginia's father passed of tuberculosis (TB) and she later journaled about her experience being separated from her mother and brother for six months in the Tishomingo Sanitarium. This early life experience shaped her outlook on life and family was always her top priority. She went on to graduate from Copan High School in 1946 and went to work at Phillips Petroleum Co. where she played on the women's basketball team that some knew as the Phillips 33ers.

Virginia married Ray Hollopeter on November 26, 1954, and they blended their two families together and made their home in Dewey. The boys recount that mom was always active and ready to support them in all of their activities. She continued her active involvement in the grandkids' activities as well, sometimes driving a distance to be in attendance. Virginia worked in the office for the Peters stores in Dewey and then Reda Pump for several years. After 51 years of loving marriage, Ray preceded Virginia in death in 2005.

Virginia enjoyed square dancing and socializing with friends, pastimes she shared with together with Ray. She was very active in the ministries of her home church and loved the Lord her God with her all heart, soul, mind and talents. One of her many passions was quilting: she made quilts for everyone and every occasion - who knew how far her quilts have traveled or who they brought comfort to. To have a Virginia quilt was to be loved and wrapped up in a very special hug. Virginia enjoyed trips to Branson with her family, notably Virgil and Dona, and Kate and Earnest. She loved to call family and friends, and she made her way down her list - everyone knew they were loved. Maybe she just needed to let them know how her Dallas and Oklahoma State Cowboys were doing. Virginia knew everyone and she could always find a connection to new people she met. She never met a stranger and she never left anyone feeling that they weren't her newest friend. She was dearly loved.

Virginia is survived by her children, Wiley Hollopeter, Chuck (Nancy) Smith, Danny (Bobbie) Smith and Troy (Debra) Hollopeter; sister-in-law Dona Robinson; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and two great- great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Ray, son Wolf Hollopeter, and two brothers Virgil Robinson and John Lucas.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10-8 at the Davis Family Funeral Home - Dewey Chapel.

Services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, at the Rosehill Baptist Church, with Rev. Orville Moody officiating. Interment will follow in the Dewey Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel. Online condolences and remembrances may be shared at www.DavisFamilyFuneralHome.com
