Robert "Doc" Davis
November 20, 1945 - April 18, 2023

Robert "Doc" Davis, 77, of Dewey, passed away at his home on April 18, 2023, joining his beloved wife, Carol, in heaven.

Doc was born November 20, 1945, in Wilburton, Oklahoma, to William F. and Lauranel (Matthews) Davis. He attended school in Wilburton and graduated high school there in 1964. Shortly after he joined the National Guard and later worked at the Kansas City stockyards.

Doc met the love of his life, Carol Hendrix, at Eastern Oklahoma State College. They married on August 9, 1969, in Stigler and then moved to Kansas City, Kansas. To this union two sons were born, Jason and Nathan. While Doc was a busy man, he was involved in his son's lives and volunteered in their activities and organizations. The boys grew up in the veterinarian office.

Doc attended the College of Veterinary Medicine at Oklahoma State University. When he graduated and earned his doctorate in veterinary medicine, the family moved to Ada where he accepted a position with Ada Veterinary Clinic. In 1981, they chose Dewey to be their home and opened the Arrowhead Veterinary Clinic, which they owned until 2012. Doc stayed at the clinic for nearly a year to help transition the ownership.

During his years as a veterinarian, Doc was a member of the Oklahoma Veterinarian Medical Association and the American Veterinarian Medical Association.

Doc and Carol were actively involved in their church, Dewey First Baptist, where Doc served as a deacon until his health prevented him. Doc was passionate about the City of Dewey and served as a volunteer for several organizations, including the Dewey Civic Association, the FFA, and 4-H. Doc enjoyed hunting and in his earlier years was a bronc rider and roper.

Doc is survived by his two sons, Jason and Nathan Davis; a brother, Ben Davis and his wife Marcia; and his sister-in-law, Mary Fouts. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol, in 2020; a brother, Matthew Davis; and a sister, Cornelia Jane Davis.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 4, from 10-8 at the Davis Family Funeral Home - Dewey Chapel, 918-534-3030, 113 S. Osage (Hwy. 75), Dewey.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 5, at Dewey First Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Dewey Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home - Dewey Chapel. Online condolences and remembrances may be shared at www.DavisFamilyFuneralHome.com.
