Lovingly known to many as Smitty

Paul Irvin Smith was born January 22, 1929 in Fletcher, Oklahoma to Edgar and Nola (Dugan) Smith. He passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 29, 2005 in his home surrounded by the love of his family. Paul was a marble mason and served in the U.S. Marine during the Korean Conflict. He married Kathleen O'Connor on May 3, 1973, in Wagoner. Paul enjoyed fishing, carpentry and painting and was a member of the First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Eddie Smith and one sister, Lela Henley. Paul is survived by his wife, Kathleen Smith of the home; daughters, Cheryl Kopp of Oklahoma City, Cindy Taylor and husband, Tim, of Crestline, California, Christina Smith of Tustin, California, Michelle Addington of Laguna Beach, California, Michele Bond and husband, Sam, of Okay and Barbie Jared and husband, Mark , of Ft. Gibson; two sisters, Mildred Smith of Okay and Marie Wood of Dyess, Arkansas; one brother, Werner Smith and wife, Barbara, of Gladstone, Missouri; sixteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and two adopted angels, Glennetta Mayes and Shannon Cowden.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 2, 2005 in the First Baptist Church in Okay with the Reverend Ron Forrest and Carolyn Chastain officiating. Interment will follow in Three Rivers Cemetery in Okay. Funeral arrangements and services are under the direction of Hersman-Nichols Funeral Home.
