TAHLEQUAH — Lonnie Benjamin Enkey

Lonnie Benjamin Enkey was born Aug. 31, 1929, in Leach, the second child of Claude Argalia and Olive Freeman Enkey.

He was a lifelong resident of the Clear Creek area near Hulbert.

Lon worked for the M.J. Lee Construction Company for 26 years, retiring in 1998.

His occupations varied throughout his life, from crop harvesting in California and wheat harvesting across Oklahoma and Kansas in his early years, to operating heavy equipment and mechanic working as a mechanic.

He ran a farm and became the shop superintendent.  He was in charge of overseeing all maintenance and repairs of the bridge building equipment for M. J. Lee Construction until retirement.

He was a devoted church member of the Prairie View Pentecostal Holiness Church for over 40 years. Lon died early Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011 at his home, at the age of 82 years, 2 months and 6 days.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Mary Burch Enkey, who died in February of 2000; son, Ronnie Krieg, who died in Vietnam in July of 1971; and sister, Opal Willis, who died in 2006.

He is survived by his children, Deborah Ann Sumrall of Broken Arrow, Ruby Krieg Danson of Hulbert and Jeffrey Glen Enkey of Hulbert; his younger siblings, Zona Siler of Wagoner, Bill Enkey of Peggs, Alzada Burch of Wagoner and Sam D. Enkey of Pensacola, Fla.; and nine grandchildren, Thursday, Nov. 10, at the Prairie View Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Officiating were the Rev. Joe Burrows, the Rev. L. J. Evers, and Mr. Jack Lee. Pallbearers were Brian Enkey, Lonnie Enkey, Eric Teehee, David Enkey, Randy Burch and Brigham Enkey. Honorary pallbearers were Buz Burch, Larry Rogers and DeWayne Rogers. Interment was in Pioneer Cemetery in Wagoner.
