Edward Ervin Jackson, of Porter, OK, was born to
Ervin and Elsie Jackson on February 24, 1963, in Redbird, OK. On October 14,
2024, at the age of 61, Edward peacefully joined his beloved mother in heaven,
surrounded by his devoted family.
A graduate of Porter High School, Edward built a
successful 40-year career with Georgia Pacific, where he retired as a plant
supervisor. He was also the proud founder and baker behind Bitter Sweet
Temptations. Known affectionately as “Papa Ed” and “Pawpaw,” he was a beloved
father, grandfather, and cherished member of his community, always involved in
the lives of those he loved.
Edward is survived by his wife, Shonna
Shay-Jackson of Porter, OK; his sons, Nathan and Angie Jackson of Broken Arrow,
OK, Joshua and Shara Jackson of Coweta, OK, Sheldon and Turquoise Love of
Wagoner, OK, Bristow Love of Wagoner, OK, and Hunter and Daphne Sipes of
Clermont, FL; his daughters, Alisha and Nick Dooley of Tulsa, OK, Cassondra
Young of Tulsa, OK, Chaylor and Jose Rodriquez of Coweta, OK, and Brooke and
Steven Rahn of Springfield, MO. He is also survived by his father, Ervin E.
Jackson of Porter, OK; his siblings, Nadine and Mark Scott of Porter, OK, Debbie
and Dwayne Gibson of Coweta, OK, Leonard Jackson of Muskogee, OK, Lamar
and Terri Jackson of Wagoner, OK, and Joann Jackson of Porter, OK; and his
grandchildren, Jaxon, Alexxa, Jacob, Daphne, Desmond, Sophie, Stetson, Triston,
Colt, Judd, Kieson, Joaquin, Abiel, Karson, Lakelynn, Elijah, Jojo, Zion, Selah,
Maverick, Farrah, and Rowan.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Elsie
Jackson, and his nephew, J.R. Golden.
Edward had a passion for photography, especially
capturing sports moments for the Porter Pirates athletics teams. He also loved
family vacations, hosting gatherings, restoring antique furniture, playing golf,
fishing, working on the farm with his brothers, and building and shooting
firearms. These hobbies reflected his deep love for his family and community.
A public viewing will be held from 5 pm to 7 pm
on Thursday, September 17th at Shipman Funeral Home in Wagoner, OK.
Funeral
services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at the Porter
School Gymnasium, followed by a private burial at Jackson Family Cemetery in
Porter, OK.
Edward’s life and legacy will be cherished by
all who knew him—a loving husband, dedicated father, respected leader, and
passionate community member.
