Leon Leonard Lampkin, 71, of Dibble, died Monday, August 14, 2017, at his home. The son of Leonard Athaniel Stonewall Jackson Lampkin and Maude (Winkley) Pound, he was born June 14, 1946 in Lehigh, Oklahoma.
He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and served with the 101st Airborne Division (“Screaming Eagles”) during the Vietnam War. Leon married Dorothy Lorene Rowe on December 23, 1967 in Oklahoma City. He worked for CMI/Terex for 45 years and traveled all over the world with his job. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cole and the VFW. Leon loved America and enjoyed riding his motorcycle all over the United States. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching OU Football and volunteering at the Veteran’s Corner. His greatest love and enjoyment was spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant sisters.
Leon is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Dorothy Lampkin, of Dibble; two daughters, Denise McDonald and her husband, David, of Texas and Kristi Cunningham and her husband, Daniel, of Dibble; one son, Corey Lampkin, of Cache; nine grandchildren, Heath McDonald and his wife, Kari, of Texas, Dasha McDonald of Arizona, Kelsi McDonald-Harris and her husband, Bradley, of Arizona, Camden Lampkin of Norman, Caley Filipek and her husband, Erik, of Colorado, Skyler Lampkin of Cache, Angel Cunningham of Dibble; Gage Cunningham of Dibble, and Graci Cunningham of Dibble; five great grandchildren, Noah, Ethan, Jeffrey, Carter, Avery, and one on-the-way; one sister, Dorothy Harris of Hominy; one brother, Bill Grady of Oklahoma City; and many other loved ones and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, August 18, 2017, at the First Baptist Church of Cole.
Graveside committal will be held at 3:30 P.M. at Greenwood Cemetery in
Porter.
Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home in Blanchard.
