She graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1951. She married the love of her life, G.H. Sligar on June 19, 1954. They made their home in Talala, OK where they raised four children: daughter, Phyllis Wyckoff and her husband Mikeal of Nowata, son, Larry Sligar and his wife Beverly of Delaware, daughter, Judy Sligar of Oologah and daughter, Rachel Sligar of Talala. Bettye spent most of her time alongside her husband tending to her peonies, farming, gardening, being active in Eastern Star and business ventures. She was ornery in nature and enjoyed the occasional practical joke. Bettye had six grandchildren: Shae Wyckoff of Nowata, Stacy Sligar of Tulsa, Karen Sligar of Tulsa, Lynsey Still of Nowata, Chris Sligar of Delaware, and Jeffrey Sligar of Oologah. She also had 10 Great-Grandchildren which she bragged about to anyone who would listen.
Bettye left this world Sunday, March 24 at St. John’s Hospital in Tulsa.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, J.H. and Gladys Brook, two brothers, Ben and Harley Brook , and one Grandson, Cole Wyckoff.
Visitation: Wednesday, March 27, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 28, 2013 at A Healing Touch Ministry with Pastor Jerry Moore officiating.
Interment will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Collinsville.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial contributions be made to Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home at 1302 W. Main St. Collinsville, OK. 74021, account number 2013-21. Services are under the direction of Collinsville Dolton Funeral Home.
