Billie Ruth Cullison Jennings, age 88, long time resident of
Ponca City, OK, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2018 in Ponca City.
Billie will be laid to rest privately in the columbarium at the Boston Avenue
United Methodist Church, in Tulsa, OK. Cremation arrangements are under the
direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
Billie was born on June 10, 1930 to Roy A. Cullison and Gladys M. Ryel Cullison
in Webb City, OK. She was raised in the Kay and Osage County area and
attended Northern Oklahoma College where she received an Associates Degree in
Nursing. After college, Billie went to work for Conoco in the retail credit
department and later worked for Dr. Houk as a nurse and receptionist for many
years before her retirement. Following her retirement, Billie met up with an old
high school sweetheart, Judge Joseph C. Jennings in Tulsa. They were married in
1997 and she moved to Tulsa to live with him. After his passing in 2013, she
returned to Ponca City to be near her family. Billie was a part of the
generation where hard work, strong will, and quick wit were encouraged and
cultivated. Billie was an accomplished seamstress, having helped her mother
making silk uniforms for horse jockeys and quilting some beautiful quilts still
cherished by her family. As well, her skill at the stove, cooking the standards
of southern kitchens were unmatched. It was all done for the love of her family
so she could care for them at the highest level she was able.
Survivors include her children: Mike Lyons and wife Linda of Burbank, OK, Marsha
Kay Eubank of St. Petersburg, FL, Janice Lynn Stewart and husband Darrell of St.
Petersburg, FL, Bret Jennings and wife Becky of Sapulpa, OK, siblings: Opal
Kuhlman and husband Fred of Wichita, KS, Richard Cullison of Stillwater,
grandchildren: Jennifer Frye of Washington state, Hunter Stewart of St.
Petersburg, FL, Michael Lyons and wife Marleana of Houston, TX and Sean Lyons of
Houston,TX.
Billie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Leo Cullison and
son Kurt Jennings.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the hospice of your
choice.
