Edwin Gail Wooters was born on July 20,1920, to Theodore "Ted" Wooters and Fern (Gaston) Wooters. He passed away early in the morning on Thursday, February 01, 2007.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving from October 14th, 1942 until his honorable discharge on January 14, 1946. He was awarded a Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars for his service in the liberation of the Philippines. Gail returned to Henderson, KY and on July 13, 1946 married the love of his life, Georgia Francis Russell. Their marriage lasted fifty-three years until Georgia's death in 1999. They raised their daughter, Phyllis, as well as their granddaughter, Debbie. Gail went to work as a roustabout for Texaco, and was promoted to the accounting department where he remained for thirty-six years. He loved to work. But when he had spare time, Gail could be found bowling in a league, camping at the lake and on fishing trips with his wife and Debbie. He was a 32nd degree Mason and belonged to the Lodge in Corydon, KY. He enjoyed attending the annual meetings of "The Dead Eyes", the 382nd Infantry Division he served with during WWII. But he was the happiest when he could spend time with his family. He was called "the Mayor of Kelly Street" by his neighbors in recognition of the numerous jobs he performed around the neighborhood. He continued to work up to his last days at Yates Auto Mall as a transport technician. He was of the Christian faith.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Georgia in 1999, brother James D. Wooters and one sister Betty Jane Self.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Phyllis Cheek of Glendale, AZ, three adored grandchildren Deborah Ann and Frank Panzica of Spring, TX, Laura Napierkowski of Phoenix, AZ, Michael and Ha Cheek of Glendale, AZ, four special sisters, Wanda and Joe Meuth, Billie Wooters, and Mary Ann Jeffries all of Henderson, KY and Fern Holland of Smith Mills, KY, five great grandchildren, Shannon, Danielle, and T.J. McGriff and Joshua and Jason Williams, many nieces, nephews, cousins as well as his many friends at Yates Auto Mall and all his neighbors on Kelly Street.

He never stopped caring for others, and he will be missed by all.
