Albert Parker Weeks, 82, of Dallas, Texas, died on December 4, 2021.
Mr. Weeks was born September 2, 1939 in El Dorado, Arkansas to
Warren Brinson Weeks, Sr. and Elizabeth Flo Parker.
Mr. Weeks grew up in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. In 1957, he entered the
University of Oklahoma, where he was an honors student, the
outstanding Air Force ROTC student, and was a member of the Kappa
Alpha fraternity, serving as its President. It was the beginning of
the computer era, and Mr. Weeks found his calling. He received the
first undergraduate Computer Science degree at the University of
Oklahoma, and went on to get a Masters. He later received an MBA
from Michigan State University.
In 1963, Mr. Weeks began his career with IBM in Endicott, NY, where
he worked on an early Fortran compiler. In 1966, he and four
associates founded Remote Computing Inc, one of the early network
computing companies that preceded the Internet. During his career,
he also worked for General Electric, Burroughs, and Computer
Sciences Corporation. In the 1980s, Mr. Weeks followed his lifelong
love of genealogy and developed one of the first computer genealogy
programs, First Family.
Mr. Weeks was a supportive father of his children's activities and
dreams, He was often seen on the side of the pool shouting "pull" at
his daughter's swim meets. He introduced his son to computer
programming at an early age, which has led to a lifelong love and
career.
Mr. Weeks was a patriot and loved his southwest heritage from
Oklahoma and Texas, where he spent the last twenty years of his
life.
Mr. Weeks is survived by his former wife, Charlotte Jones Weeks, and
his younger brother, Thomas Winston Weeks, wife Linda Sowards Weeks.
His older brother, Warren Brinson Weeks, Jr, died November 18, 2020.
Mr Weeks's children are Stephen Taylor Weeks and Cameron Elizabeth
Watts, husband David Funderburke Watts Sr. His grandchildren are
David Funderburke Watts Jr., Matthew Parker Watts, and Taylor Allen
Weeks.
Mr. Weeks was buried on December 16, 2021 at Memorial Park Cemetery
in Tulsa, Oklahoma (36.08730° N, 95.87960° W).
