was born July 16, 1947 in Muskogee to Ernest Oaks and Lula
(Armstrong) Oaks. Roger attended public schools and graduated
from Fort Gibson High School with the class of 1965.
He was employed at Safeway Grocery where he worked in the
warehouse. He retired in 1985 after many years of service.
Roger’s hobbies were golfing, stamp collecting, karaoke,
fishing, spending time with his wife, and spending money. He was
a member of Calvary Faith Church in Fort Gibson and a member of
the Masons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Lula Oaks;
previous wife, Janice Winkle-Oaks; and his brother, Steve Oaks.
Roger is survived by his wife, Maggie, of the home; son, Michael
Oaks; grandson, Daniel Oaks, both of Tulsa; brother, Jim Oaks
and wife Margie of Broken Arrow; brother-in-law, William Wolfe
of Muskogee; nieces, Christie Leatherman and husband Jason of
Muskogee, Kelly smith and husband Mark of Tulsa; great nephews,
Dylan Durossette and Blaise Leatherman, both of Muskogee;
cousins, Jerry and Linda Armstrong of OKC, Cheryl Hutchens of Ft
Gibson, and Johnny Armstrong of Muskogee; along with many other
family members and friends.
Roger was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services celebrating Roger’s life will be at 2PM,
Friday, November 17, 2017 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa
with Pastor Don Reed officiating.
Funeral services are under the direction of Cornerstone Funeral
Home, 1830 North York Street, Muskogee.
