Rewritten & p
osted by Jo Aguirre

Funeral services for June Dobbs were held at  2 p.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2006  at the Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel under the direction of Nick Reynolds Funeral Service.

June Manchester  was born June 15, 1921, in St. Louis, Mo., to Alda M. (Cunningham) and John E. Manchester and died Sunday, August 6, 2006 at the age of 85.  Her family moved to Tulsa when she was 9. She graduated from Central High School.

She met her future husband, Glenn Dobbs
while attending the University of Tulsa, where she studied medicine and was a member of the Chi Omega sorority. :

They were married January 16, 1942 and he preceded her in death in 2002.

June volunteered with St. John Medical Center's auxiliary for 20 years and when Doctors Hospital opened, she set up an auxiliary there. Their son John Dobbs said his mother cooked a lot of meals for the football players who were too far from home to go back for the holidays.  "She just took them under her wing," said John Dobbs. "She was an away-from-home mom for a lot of guys."

Survivors include their  sons, Glenn Dobbs III of Owasso and John Dobbs of Tulsa; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
