Doris Johanna Gilliland Bowers age 54, passed away October 18, 1984 at the home in Tulsa after an extended illness.

Services were conducted at the Memorial Park Chapel, Tulsa, Oklahoma Saturday, October 20, 1984 at 10 a.m. under the Rev. C. B. Hogue, pastor of the Eastwood Baptist Church, Tulsa.

Interment was with Moore's Memorial Chapel, Tulsa at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Doria Johanna Gilliand was born June 22, 1930 at Grimes, Oklahoma to Virgil and Grace Gilliland.

From birth to age 13 she made her home with the uncle Monty and aunt Evelyn Gilliland at Strong City where she attended school grades 1-8th. At the age of 13 she moved back to the Dempsey area with her father and attended Reydon School. Johanna attended church at Dempsey as a girl and attended the singing held every Sunday.

Doris Johanna Gilliland married Raymond Frank Bowers September 4, 1948 at Cheyenne in the Methodist parsonage.

Raymond and Johanna made their home in Cheyenne until 1961 when they moved to Muskogee where three of their children attended Muskogee School of the Blind.

Doris Johanna moved to Tulsa in 1979 where she was employed by the Methodist Manor Nursing Home. She worked there until she was taken ill April 1983.

Johanna was a member of the Eastwood Baptist Church in Tulsa.

She is preceded by her parents, 2 sisters, 1 brother and uncle and aunt.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond F. Bowers, Muskogee, Oklahoma; two daughters, Diane Bowers, Norman, Oklahoma; Mrs. Debra Brothers, Burkburnett, Texas; 3 sons, Monty Bowers, Millvalley, California; Larry Bowers, Poteau, Oklahoma; Raymond Earl, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 4 granddaughters, 3 grandsons; 1 sister, Mildred Sweet, Pampa, Texas; 1 brother, Robert Gilliland, Wyoming and a host of friends and neighbors.
