TAHLEQUAH -- Phyllis Dorene Baehler Herd, 83, longtime bookkeeper and housewife,
died Saturday, May 15, in Tahlequah.
She was born Oct. 13, 1927, in Arkansas City, Kan., to Samuel
and Nancy Margaret Piper Baehler. Later that year, her parents moved to the
Tulsa area, where she later attended and graduated high school.
Soon she met and married her deceased husband, John B. Herd, on July 3, 1948,
and worked for several businesses as bookkeeper. In the early 1990s, John and
Phyllis moved to the Park Hill area, where they lived and actively attended Park
Hill Baptist Church, with Phyllis becoming Treasurer and serving in that
capacity for approximately 15 years, until shortly before her death.
She is survived by her stepson, John Herd; several grandchildren, nieces and
nephews; and a host of friends.
Services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 19, at Park Hill Baptist
Church, Tahlequah.
Interment will follow at Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow, at 2 p.m., under
the care of Green Country Funeral Home.
