Linda Kay Gono, 70, died August 15, 2020.

She was born May 7, 1950 in Riverside, California, the daughter of R.A. Rogers and Wilma Jean (Paisley) Rogers. She graduated high school in 1969 and Muskogee Vo-Tech in 1970. She married Jess Gono in 1970 and moved to Tulsa, OK. Jess died in 1989.

Linda did not get enough oxygen at birth and had brain damage. Her parents were told to put her in an institution; that she would never walk or talk. They never gave up on her.

Linda went on to work at the Saint Francis Hospital and worked there until she retired with honors after 38 years of service. She could have spent her life on disability but chose to work. She loved her pet dogs and birds. She had “angel” friends next door for those 38 years that looked out for her. She had a loving, giving heart and many special friends.


She attended Catholic Church with her husband. When he passed away, she went back to her roots of being a Methodist until she went to Heaven.
 

Life was never easy for her. She was a fighter and a trooper marching on with life and loving each day on earth. She tried to keep a positive, happy attitude. She had many challenges and always managed to overcome them all.

She lived and died well with flying colors.

She is loved and will be missed. She taught us a lot. We will go on with her knowledge and wisdom.
 

Rest in peace, sister. We all loved you and will miss you until we meet again at the golden gates of Heaven and sit with you at God’s throne.

Linda was looking forward to seeing all her friends in Heaven. They are working jigsaw puzzles and playing bingo now.


Jerry was amazed how happy she was right before she died. Jimmy helped her every step of the way. He got her through chemo, radiation, and therapy; sometimes 2 or 3 appointments a day.
 

Survivors include her brother, Jerry Rogers; sister, Connie Alexander and husband Jim; nephews, Richard Alexander and wife Jamie, and Jeremy Rogers and wife Lindzie Vowell; niece, Cheryl Cobb and husband Ty; great-nephews, Garrett Alexander, Tyler Cobb, Declan Rogers, Jenna Cobb, Riley Alexander, Zohie Cobb; her special little buddy, Caleb Cobb; her angel on earth and friend, Marlene Gilkey; cousin and friend, Mitch Meador; and her best friend at Hefner Mansion, Sue Watson.
 

Contributions can be made to Linda when you give a homeless, mentally ill person a hot meal, coat, or blanket in her name; when you buy a homeless veteran a pair of boots or shoes; when you give to the homeless shelters; or when you donate to Veterans homes. Some of those poor men leave the hospital with only a hospital gown on.

Share her giving heart and spirit with the less fortunate. Don’t forget the elderly that have no one left alive. Visit a person in a nursing home and help your neighbor. Some die with no one left to care. Be kind to handicapped people.

Private services will be held.
