Alfred B. Ridgeway

Services for Alfred B. Ridgeway, 84, of Falconhead, Burneyville, were held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, January 12 in the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel, Marietta with Bro. Jim Nash officiating. Interment followed in the Chattanooga Cemetery, Chattanooga.
Born June 30, 1926 in Chattanooga, the son of E.B. and Ida Mae Watts Ridgeway, he died Friday, January 7, 2011 in the Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton.
Mr. Ridgeway had been a resident of Falconhead since November 1986, moving there from Montana. A ranger and game ranger, he was employed by the Department of Interior with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Mr. Ridgeway attended Faxon High School until the 10th grade, joined the U.S. Navy serving during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific, and then attended Cameron College. Considered one of the true old-time cowboys, he loved horseback riding. Mr. Ridgeway was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing golf. He was the proud recipient of a hole-in-one certificate. He and Sonia Mae Keller were married April 23, 1946 in Lawton, and she preceded him in death on April 28, 2009. He was a member of the Marietta Church of Christ.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Oral and Arthur; and five sisters, Lavelle, Lorene, Edith, Cleora and Eva Mae.
He is survived by an adopted son, Charley Boyd of Hot Springs, Arkansas; a sister, Lennora Willison of Hollister, California; three special nieces, Linda and Gregg Lewis of Lawton, Judy and Herbert Roy of Del City, and Ida Mae and Johnny Jones of Elgin; an adopted daughter, Lynn and Ken Howard of Matlock, Washington; a dear friend, Beth King of Marietta; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Serving as pallbearers were Vance Parr, Zack King, Bob Anderson, Dan McMillan, Allen Woody and David Banta.
