Oscar William Mize

December 2, 1941 - February 12, 2017

Funeral for Oscar William Mize, 75, of Cache, will be at 1:00 PM Friday, February 17, 2017, at Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Home Chapel, Lawton, with Rev. Charles R. Rettig, Cache First United Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial will follow at Chattanooga Cemetery. O.W. died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017.
Oscar William Mize was born December 2, 1941, in Shady Point, Oklahoma, the first of three children to Ray and Hazel Mize. He played football and baseball, graduating from Panama High School in 1960. He married Shirley Dye in 1963, divorcing in 1983. During that time, he was an Auxiliary Policeman in Clarksville, Arkansas and a Dragline Operator for American Dredging Co. in New Jersey and Peabody Coal Co. in Coal Hill, Arkansas. He was married to Evelyn Lorah-Marsh in 1983 until her death in Feb., 2016. He worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Anadarko Dozer in Hinton, Oklahoma until his retirement and move to Cache in 2006. They attended Cache United Methodist Church.
During his life he was a Mason and a deacon. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and camping. He and Evelyn liked to play cards and dominoes with family and were able to do a lot of traveling over the years. They laughed about how everywhere they went he ran into someone he knew. He always liked to play jokes on people and absolutely loved it when he knew he got you! Survivors include daughter, Pam Pinto and husband Bob, Russellville, Arkansas, daughter, Tammy Gossett and husband Bill of Clarksville, Arkansas and son William Mize and wife Hope of Clarksville, Arkansas; grandchildren, C.J. Harmon and wife Christina of Dover, Arkansas, Bobby Goines and wife Carly of Conway, Arkansas, William Perkins of Clarksville, Arkansas, Amy Gossett of Clarksville, Arkansas, Tiffany Richards and husband Adam of Coal Hill, Arkansas, Jonathan Galvin of Hartman, Arkansas, Dylan Mize of Clarksville, Arkansas; great grandchildren, Jacie, Gunnar, Alexis, Colton and Caleb; stepchildren, Cindy Martin and husband Bob of Cache, Oklahoma and Mike Marsh of Geronimo, Oklahoma; step grandchildren, Shaun Martin and wife Lauren of Skiatook, Oklahoma, Jeremy Martin and wife Caley of Norman, Oklahoma, Paul Martin of Cache, Oklahoma, Cole Martin of Brussels, Belgium and Heather Martin of Cache, Oklahoma; step great grandchildren, Troy and Madison and brother, James Mize and wife Caroline of Eufaula, Oklahoma and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Ray and Hazel Mize and his sister, Norma Kuecken.
