Herbert Lee Brand, 68, of Guymon passed away Thursday, May 12, 2022 at the Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo, Texas.
The son of Max and Aileen Brand, he was born January 2, 1954 in Houston, Texas. Herbie attended school in Houston, graduating from Lamar High School. Following graduation he joined the U.S. Coast Guard where he proudly served his country.
Herbie moved to Guymon in 1997. He and Terry Cogburn were united in marriage on July 12, 1997 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Guymon. In addition to being a veteran, Herb hard worked as a firefighter and paramedic in Houston and as a truck driver.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 25 years, Terry Brand of the home; his three children: Gene Brand and wife, Patty of Waco, Texas and their son, Colt, Emily Lloyd of Crestview, Florida and her daughters, Ana and Abigail Ortiz, and Bryan Lloyd and Jacob Calbert of Las Vegas, Nevada. He is also survived by one brother, Dr. Max Brand of Navasota, Texas; three sisters: Anne Kingman and husband, Martin of Fredricksburg, Texas, Elizabeth Brand Fredricks and husband, Bradley of Houston, Texas and Sherri Simmons and husband, Glenn of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; along with Herb and Terry’s four legged “kids”: Lady, George, Patton, Rusty, Toby, Bela and Coco and Terry’s special sister, Ruth Lang.
Memorial services will be conducted Tuesday morning, May 17th at 10:00 a.m. at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Guymon with Pastor Tyler Arends officiating. Inurnment with military honors will follow at the Lutheran Cemetery, NW of Guymon. Everyone is asked to wear patriotic colors to celebrate Herbie. Services are under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
