Rickey Lee Pickard

Ricky Lee Pickard, 64, of Hooker, passed away Thursday, June 15, 2023 at his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The son of Larry and Myrna Elliott Pickard, Rick was born on February 10, 1959 in Dumas, Texas. He grew up with his sister, Kelly, and his brother, Tony. He played football, ran track, and was a State Farmer in FFA. Rick was known to be quite a rowdy kid, which made him memorable. Everyone has a story to tell. He attended school in Hooker, graduating with the Class of 1977. He then attended college at Oklahoma Panhandle State University in Goodwell for four years.
Rick was blessed with two children, daughter Brooke and son Lakin. Rick always loved kids, and nothing made him happier than when he became a dad. Brooke and Lakin brought a smile and light to Rick’s face like nobody else could. He was always proud to be their dad.
Rick was most recently engaged in commercial real estate development designing and selling fuel delivery systems in the Dallas/Fort Worth metropolitan area for Reeder Distributors. However, his most enjoyed career was working as a carpenter. It allowed him to be creative. His mother shared that even as a child, he liked to have a board, a hammer, and a nail.
Rick’s true passion was fishing in the great outdoors. He was happiest when by the water. For some time, he lived in the mountains of Edgewood, New Mexico and South Fork, Colorado. He also played quite a bit of golf. Rick was a fun kind of ornery. He always brought smiles and laughs to anyone who spent time with him. He was a supportive and kind man.
Rick was a man of God. He shared his faith by encouraging others to trust in God’s plan. “Trust Him and say lots of prayers.”
He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Pickard and sister, Kelly Pickard.
Survivors include his mother, Myrna Pickard of Hooker, daughter, Brooke Pickard and son, Lakin Pickard both of Weatherford, Texas, special friend, Caren Moody of Nebraska, brother, Tony Pickard of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and niece and nephew, Bobbie Pickard and John Pickard both of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening, June 20 from 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home in Guymon. Funeral services will be Wednesday afternoon, June 21st at 2:00 p.m. at the Hooker First Baptist Church with Pastor Mike McReynolds officiating. Interment will follow in the Hooker Cemetery.
Memorials in memory of Rick may be given to Alzheimer’s Association and will be accepted at Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home, PO Box 1112, Guymon, OK 73942. Friends can sign the online guestbook and leave condolences at www.bunchroberts.com.
