LaVonne Thomason, 86, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday morning, January 25, 2022 at the Heritage Community Manor in Guymon.
The daughter of Howard Clarence and Vera Imogene (Keller) Pickard, Iona LaVonne was born March 26, 1935 in Guymon, where she was raised and attended school.
LaVonne was married to AJ Keeling on November 26, 1951 and they made their home in Arizona. Four children were born to this union: Anita Darlene, Vickie Verlene, Teddy Paul and Judy Lynn. LaVonne returned to Guymon in the early 1970’s, where she worked for Memorial Hospital and Dr. J. Carl Hallford.
LaVonne and Verley D. Thomason were married on May 16, 1992. They made their home in Texhoma and she operated a flower and sandwich shop for a time. She was also an active member of the Texhoma First Christian Church. Verley preceded her in death on March 23, 2008. LaVonne eventually relocated to Hooker and became a member of the United Methodist Church. She enjoyed being involved in the Ladies Bible studies, both in Texhoma and Hooker, and was an avid prayer warrior for her family and friends.
In addition to her husband, Verley she was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Imogene Pickard; two sisters, Delores Pickard and Donita Fisher; two grandchildren, Aliecha Franklin and T.J. Buttry; and one great grandson, Tabor Keeling.
Survivors include her four children: Anita and Wayne Buttry of Tyrone, Oklahoma, Vickie Keeling of Phoenix, Arizona, Ted and Vicki Keeling of Hooker and Judy Keeling McCune of Hooker; eight grandchildren: Jennifer (Josh) Herald of Guymon, Daniel (Shelley) Buttry of Kismet, KS, Heather Franklin of Phoenix, AZ, Bob (Julia) Buttry of Perryton, TX, Tamara (Jeff) Monk of Waukon, IA, Kevin Buttry (Justin Gibson) of Ardmore, OK, Aaron (Ashlyn) Keeling of Decorah, IA, Kris (Brooke) McCune of Guymon and T.J.’s wife, Angela Buttry of Liberal, KS; 30 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 29th at 11:00 a.m. at the Hooker United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Reeves officiating. Interment will follow at the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon. Services are under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
