Norris "Shorty" Smith
February 25, 1943 - August 11, 2023



Norris “Shorty” Smith, 80, of Guymon passed away Friday, August 11, 2023 at his home.
The son of Herman G. and Jessie L. Smith, Norris Glenn was born February 25, 1943 in Jet, Oklahoma. He was raised and attended school in Jet, where he worked farming and harvesting.
Shorty was united in marriage to Sonja Glennie on June 9, 1962 in Cherokee, Oklahoma. They made Guymon their home and raised three children: Tammie, Greg and Glenda. Shorty worked as a welder for Adam’s Hardfacing for almost 40 years. He was a member of Sunset Lane Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time camping and fishing. He also loved chasing the grandkids around in all of their endeavors.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dean Edward Smith and son-in-law, C.W. Woodard.
Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Sonja Smith; three children: Tammie Keenan (Casey), Greg Smith (Summer) and Glenda Woodard; eight grandchildren: Holly Jackson, Brooke Vaughn (RJ), Emily Smith, Austin “Riley” Smith, Shayla McLane (Jesse), Leslie Woodard, Ashley Woodard and Desiree Darnell; nine great grandchildren: Ava, Hunter, Henlee, Reesie, Curtis, Kenzie, Karidee “Carrot”, Kage and JJ; one great great grandson, Waylon; and two siblings: Lewis H. Smith and Iva P. Griffith; along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family will greet friends at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home on Monday evening, August 14th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, August 15th at 1:00 p.m. at Sunset Lane Baptist Church with Pastor David Moore officiating. Interment will follow at the Elmhurst Cemetery.
