Marcella “Sally” Corrine Matzek passed away on Monday, October 3, 2022 at Guymon Memorial Hospital of Texas County.
The daughter of Carl and Lila (Ireland) Cronin, Sally was born October 20, 1924 in Fremont Ohio. She was raised in Fremont and graduated from Fremont Ross High in 1942. Sally worked at the Erie Proving Grounds until meeting LeRoy Matzek while he was in WW II Service.
Sally married the love of her life, LeRoy A. Matzek on February 20, 1946 in Guymon Oklahoma. They had two children, Pamela and Ryan Matzek. They lived in Green Springs Ohio until moving back to Guymon Oklahoma in 1958 where they continued raising their children and Sally loved being a homemaker.
Sally and LeRoy retired to Tow Texas and lived on Lake Buchanan for 20 years. Meme always said those were the best times of their life. Spending time on the lake fishing, playing bridge and making forever friendships.
After returning back to Guymon in 1997 Sally continued her love of playing bridge and other card games with her friends and loved Saduko books. Sally was very proud of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was the best “Meme” to all that knew her.
Sally is preceded in death by her husband LeRoy Matzek, her parents; Carl and Lila Cronin, Sisters; Jane Cronin Enders, Berniece Cronin Kobel. Brothers; Carl Jr Cronin, and Gerald Cronin.
Survivors include her son Ryan Matzek and his wife Brenda of Guymon Oklahoma, her daughter Pamela Brooks of Guymon Oklahoma. Her brother Larry Cronin and his wife Karen of Coral Springs Florida, Grandchildren Audrey Brooks and husband Stacy Nordquist of Goodwell Oklahoma, Shane Brooks of Guymon Oklahoma, Jeremy Matzek and wife Misha of Arvada Colorado, Heather Adelman and husband Shandy of Spring Texas. Great grandchildren Blake Matzek of Broomfield Colorado, Braden Matzek of Arvada Colorado, Jackson Adelman of El Paso Texas, Kennedy Adelman of Stephenville Texas. Chaz Cobb of Goodwell Oklahoma, Great Great Grandchildren Layla Matzek, Bella Matzek and Grayson Matzek of Colorado and Brantly Cobb of Oklahoma, a special friend and caregiver, Connie Stelzer and Many Nieces and Nephews that she adored.
A private family burial ceremony will be conducted at Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon at a later date. Memorials in memory of Sally may be given to the Starkey Hearing Foundation and will be accepted at Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home, PO Box 1112, Guymon OK 73942.
