Exie Fern Hays, 88, lifelong resident passed away Tuesday morning, November 15, 2022 at the Memorial Hospital of Texas County.
The daughter of James Herbert and Stella Irene (Perry) Grider, she was born August 24, 1934 south of Four Corners in the Eva, Oklahoma Community.
Exie attended school in Guymon graduating with the Class of 1952; she attended Panhandle A&M in Goodwell and numerous banking schools with the Oklahoma Banking Association. Exie served as Vice-President of the City National Bank & Trust, retiring in 1989.
Exie was united in marriage to Charles “Hoot” Hays on October 26, 1955 in Clayton, New Mexico. He preceded her in death on December 13, 2014. Exie was a member of the Victory Memorial United Methodist Church and active with the Pink Ladies, Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hoot Hays; her parents, James and Stella Grider; two sisters Wanda Linebaugh and Vynneth Henderson; and two brothers, Kenneth and Quinton Gay Grider.
Survivors include one daughter, Charmis Diann and husband, Harold Dye of Lubbock, Texas; and one son, Mike Hays and wife, Caryn of the Eva Community. Survivors also include her five grandchildren: Jarod Huddleston, Alan and Jaime Huddleston, Lane and Whitney Huddleston, Brandon Hockett and Blake Hockett, and eight great grandchildren: Tripp, Stella, A.J., Jake, Liam and Carter Huddleston, Berkley and Sunny Hockett.
Friends and family can come for viewing at Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home on Friday, November 18th between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday morning, November 19th at 10:00 a.m. at the Bunch- Roberts Chapel with Rev. David Player officiating. Interment will follow in the Elmhurst Cemetery.
Memorials in memory of Exie may be given to Pink Ladies Hospital Auxiliary, Boy Scout Troop #142 or the OPSU Scholarship Foundation. Memorials will be accepted at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1112, Guymon, Oklahoma 73942.
