CW4 Elvis Dee Corbin, U.S. Army Retired
Funeral services for Elvis Dee Corbin, 70, of Rush Springs will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday September 11, 2006, in the Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church with Pastor Dave Klump officiating. Elvis Dee Corbin was born March 21, 1936 in Cloud Chief, Oklahoma, the son of David and Lillie [Buchanan] Corbin. He died September 7, 2006, in Duncan.
Elvis grew up in the Carnegie and Lawton area. He joined the U.S. Marines in 1953, being honorably discharged in April of 1955.
He and Jeannetta Jo Pitts were married on February 17, 1953. This union blessed them with five children: James, Valerie, Connie, Michael, and Lori. He briefly attended college at OBU in Shawnee before joining the U.S. Army in 1956, He was classified as a CW4 at the time of his retirement in 1981. He was a highly decorated Vietnam Veteran, and received a personal letter of appreciation from President Jimmy Carter for his military accomplishments.
On December 20, 1986, in Fox, Oklahoma, Elvis married his wife of almost 20 years, Janet [Williams] Corbin.
Elvis enjoyed farming and collecting tractors. He enjoyed spending time with his family; he was a wonderful husband, dad, and grandpa.
He was preceded in death by both parents; two sisters; and five brothers.
Survivors include wife Janet, of the home; four sons and daughters-in-law: Jim and Linda Corbin, Mike and Tess Corbin, Ronald Bennett, Robert Bennett, three daughters and sons-in-law: Valerie and Randy White, Connie and Larry Null, and Lori and Rusty Phillips; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Bill and Cindy Howeth and Vernon and Joy Howeth; fourteen grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.
Interment will be in the Resthaven Memorial Cemetery in Duncan under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
