David Payne

July 30, 1962 - November 6, 2022

David Lee Payne, born July 30, 1962 in Woodward, OK, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2022 due to lung cancer. He was the youngest child of Bob and Charleen Payne. He grew up in Midland, Texas and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1981. Diagnosed with schizophrenia as a young adult, David struggled with managing this disease the rest of his adult life with the help of his parents, sisters and many caregivers.
David had a great sense of humor and and could always be counted on for a good laugh. He was kind, generous and a faithful Christian. He enjoyed visits with family, listening to music, spending time with friends and caring for his goldfish. He also enjoyed eating out and often ordered the biggest steak from the menu.
He is survived by his sisters Diane Stark, Lynn Sitzes, Chris Isbell and Bobbie Nickell and several nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents.
